Video
[Someone's breaking in this here video thing, because it's backward tech far behind what she's used to but she can understand it. Leia's hair is just in a braid on one side, and it's clear that she didn't intend to be doing this. Anyone who's seen her house, or who lives on her street can probably tell that she's sitting on her front stoop, and she's holding an open box with a bright blue ribbon. Inside the box there's a silver tube, and she lifted it up slowly.]
Is this supposed to be a joke?
[Her voice is deadpan and calm, even as she removes the saber and flicks the switch on, activating the blue blade.]
My brother is the jedi, not me. Does this mean that you have him somewhere? Or Ben Kenobi? Or someone else?
[She can't help that her hope is up a little about Luke, even if the saber is a different color than the one that he made after he lost his hand (and saber) to Vader.
Still the lightsaber in her hand feels right, like an extension of herself and if she closed her eyes she could still feel it with senses that she had locked away long ago. Now it was like someone (or something) had ripped the bandages off of them and she didn't like it one bit.]

They have many people somewhere.
no subject
[One way or another, Leia is going to try.]
no subject
Leia, that's a lightsaber.
[ WELL SPOTTED, ERSO ]
no subject
[And her father and her son, but she's not talking about that.]
no subject
Your brother is a Jedi?
[ HOLY SHIT, LEIA ORGANA ]
no subject
[But she's still not naming other names.]
Luke is my twin brother. He's actually one of the people who helped me deliver the plans to the Rebellion, and then he was the one who used the Force to guide the shot that destroyed the first Death Star.
no subject
well, fuck. ]
Your brother took down the Death Star?
no subject
Mostly because she doesn't know about it yet.]Yes. And then Yoda trained him in the ways of the Jedi.
no subject
I thought... all the Jedi were wiped out during the Clone Wars.
no subject
[Though they tried. Leia remembered them trying, which was why her own abilities had been so tightly bound and woven together inside of herself so that no one would ever be able to suss them out.
Not even Vader.]

Two of the men in our crew were Guardians of the Whills but we never got the chance to talk about it. Chirrut recognized my necklace though. [ she pulls it free even though leia has no doubt seen it before since jyn doesn't bother hiding it anymore. ]
It's a kyber crystal.
no subject
[In her hunt for her brother, Leia had done research into the things that he had done research on, all of the old myths of the jedi, and kyber crystals had come up.]
Was your mother a force user?
no subject
[ jyn... less so. ]
no subject
[It was hard with her father telling her that she needed to hide everything about it, and that she needed to never let on about the feelings she had about things so that the Empire would never find out about her. Not believing in the force was the easiest way for her to not have it.]
Of course I believe now.
[And she had a lightsaber in her hand.]
no subject
[ let's all take a moment to laugh that tiny jyn is saying this to adult leia when damn they do not look the same age. ]
no subject
Do you want to see it? In person, I mean.
[Cause she wants to tell you something but not on the network because she doesn't trust it.]
no subject
Yes!
[ that was not cool. gdi ]
Where do you want to meet?
no subject
Come by the house. I'll put some beer in the fridge.
[Because let's add alcohol to emotional upheaval and a freaking lightsaber, Organa.]
no subject
I'll be right there.
[ and indeed, a few minutes later she's knocking on leia's door before she pushes it open because jyn doesn't believe in manners. at least she knocked! ]
Leia! It's me.
no subject
Come in.
[The words come with the patented Leia Organa little smile, and she opens the door and leads her into the living room. The lightsaber is in her pocket, and she is definitely not letting it out of her sight or feeling range for anything.]
no subject
[ IT'S A FAIR QUESTION! as far as jyn knows the jedi don't exist, even with leia's explanation under her belt it's still... it sounds so impossible. the jedi they're practically fairy tales! ]
no subject
[Her voice is calm, but crystal clear, and she meets Jyn's eyes as she said it.]
He may be the last jedi, now. Before this showed up I mean.
[Leia gestured to the lightsaber in her pocket.]
I have the Force within me too. I told you it was strong within my family and it's true. But when I was a kid I always needed to hide it because we were always around the Empire and Vader and we were already involved in the rebellion. If he had any word that my father was harboring a force user...
[Leia didn't need to say what would have happened to all of them, and what could have happened to her whole planet because of her.
Before it did happen, anyway.]
no subject
get your shit together, erso. the implicit threat on alderaan sobers her, knowing full well that her father could be blamed entirely for that, not leia's. ]
Poe told me, about Alderaan. I'm sorry.
no subject
Thank you.
[But then she looked into Jyn's eyes and frowned for a moment, reaching out to touch her on her arm.]
You know that it's not your fault, right? That the sins of the father don't carry onto the child?
[Because if Jyn believed that it did, then Leia was fucked if the truth came out.
Again.]
no subject
[ so it feels like her fault. for existing. if galen didn't have jyn there would have been nothing to keep him in line. ]
When I was in prison, on Wobani, we built these huge ship panels. The ones they use in Star Destroyers, but more than they would ever need. Every single day, hundreds of panels, thousands of panels a week. I used to think that it for some massive fleet, but it wasn't. They used us to build the Death Star. It's got Erso hands all over it.

[It was the voice of experience here, thinking back to everything that she'd done for the Resistance and the Rebellion, all of the things that she had lost to put into it, all of the blood and sweat and tears.
And the love and the people and the loss. All of it had driven her to be who she was and what she was, and without it none of those things would have existed.
Resting her arm on Jyn's she just smiled softly.]
You need to stop beating yourself up.
no subject
her hand lifts to curl around her crystal, offering leia a weak smile that doesn't begin to convey her gratitude. ]
Where should I channel it?
no subject
Taking the lightsaber from her pocket again, Leia pressed the button and it lit up, filling the air around them with it's blue glow.]
For now you channel it in making this town safe, and in working towards getting everyone back home. That said. [Her hand hit the button once more, and the light was gone as Leia reached out and brushed her fingers across Jyn's chin.]
Enjoy the time you have. Use it to the fullest. Love to the fullest, Jyn Erso. We don't know how much time we have. Don't waste it.
[If Leia could, it would be advice that she could give to herself, and she still doesn't even know that her husband is dead.]
no subject
seeing the lightsaber again, up close, makes jyn's eyes sparkle, blue glow reflecting off the gold flecks in her eyes that gave her the nickname from her father when she was a newborn.
because it's leia, she doesn't stop the words that tumble out of her mouth: ] I don't have a home to go back to. Cassian and I, we're dead, we died, it's part of history now. We can't go home.
[ what is she supposed to do in that case? ]
no subject
[Leia knew how bad an uneasy peace was when you didn't expect it. How everything that you learned through wars made peacetimes harder especially when a new generation was born of children who didn't really understand what it was like to live and love and lose under the yoke of her father and the Emperor. She didn't wish that on the two of them. Leia didn't wish this odd combination of war and peace on anyone. One should either live in one or the other without needing to straddle the middle ground.]
Live well here, Jyn. The two of you deserve it.

[To someone else, or if she had all of her memories, Leia might not have admitted it, but for now she did and made a small movement with it, taking a step to the right as she did so. It was a movement that she'd seen her brother do light years ago, and it was almost like reflex.]
I don't suppose you've had any experience with swords?
no subject
[ It was one of the many fighting arts that he'd learned from Bruce and Diana both over the years, so that he'd be prepared in cases where his powers might not be functional. ]
Though never one quite like that.
no subject
Don't suppose you'd feel up to teaching an old dog some new tricks?
no subject
[ That comes with a bit of a smile. ]
But I certainly wouldn't mind passing on the things I've learned to an eager pupil.

What day works for you?

[She always had more discipline than Luke.]

Then I'll just bring myself and my appetite.
no subject
Excellent. I don't mind telling you, Kal that I am excited for doing this.

[Leia's offended, even though she shouldn't be, and her famous temper comes out as she takes a step forward in a circular motion and proceeds to slice her rose bush in half.]
