TOWN HALL IS LISTENING
( early on the 10th, the 'Coming Soon!' on each laptop's TOWN HALL IS LISTENING page changes for the first time since the laptops were dispensed early in april, replaced instead with a full-screen splash page of vivid pictures and text. at the end sits an open suggestion box, with a voting section below it. )

WAYWARD PINES IS GETTING A RAD NEW PLACE TO CHILL
Our little town has so many fascinating places to spend some time, but we here at Town Hall have put our ears to the ground and discovered that what we're missing is a single unified place to connect with your friends and neighbors. Somewhere casual but not disreputable. Somewhere open and airy, but also comfortable and cozy. Somewhere that can provide both caffeine and your liquor of choice, though hopefully not in the same drink (and never to minors!), over the quiet buzz of conversation and music of all styles.

A generous donor has taken it upon himself and his team to provide us with that exact place! Formerly a diner that closed down after its previous owners moved on to bigger dreams, this site is perfect for the cozy day-bar to suit your every need, and with a little bit of reconstructive work, it should be ready to open early next month! Pictured above is the first room to see polished completion.

Also in the plans are a lounge with plush chairs, a game room with billiards and the like, a small stage for live music where citizens can help polish the new dance floor, and a balcony out back with a peaceful view of some of the very pines after which our town was named.

This new conversational hub will be located here, adjacent to the wooded park behind Town Hall itself, and a couple of blocks away from the bustle of Main Street.

The project is being sponsored by Town Hall, as the kick-off of our Town Hall Is Listening project and a preliminary effort to show that you, the citizens, can and will make a difference in our little town! This time, you might just help a little, but next time, you could very well change the face of this town altogether.

TOWN HALL WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU!
There's one big thing this day-bar is missing: A name. And we at Town Hall thought to ourselves, who better to name it than the citizens who will one day frequent it?

You've seen the picture, you know what the finished product is going to be like. So go ahead — drop suggestions for names in the box below, or maybe just vote for your favorite(s) of the names your friends and neighbors have already submitted.

Keep in mind, though, that anything vulgar or deliberately offensive will be removed from the running once the votes are being tallied. You have until the 25th to post your ideas or cast your votes. Let's see how creative Wayward Pines can be!

MOD NOTES

If your character wants to offer an idea, post a top-level comment with the suggested name in the subject line.

If your character wants to vote on an idea, reply to the suggestion's top-level with "VOTE" or "+1" in the subject line.

Conversation is allowed, much like the forums currently used as a text network. Keep in mind that only official suggestions can be top-levels, with conversation occurring in threads underneath each. Characters are allowed to vote for more than one idea, but we ask that they vote in their initial reply to that suggestion so that we, as mods, can tally at a glance.

As stated in the post itself, both name-suggesting and voting close on the 25th.

For some reason that sounds like the name of a bar that already exists.

That might be it. Though I can't remember the show.
