Sorry to spring this on the folks just getting out of the hospital. [
Not 'new people'. That would only be more cause for confusion than what he's about to say. ] It'll make more sense if you go back and listen to the recent messages from Dr. Rousseau. In her first message she asked us to accept the leadership of the people who brought us here in exchange for certain freedoms. That's not really how it works.
[
Boy, is it nice to be able to speak his mind again. It took a few days, as he was told, for the consequences of attempting to do so to wear off so he could get on the phone for this at all. ]
They were trying to save the people of this world. I understand that. But to do it they made some choices, choices that kept us from making our own. Made us think their choices were ours. That's something they're gonna have to live with. They don't get to make decisions for us anymore. It's not up to them where we go from here. That's in our hands now, if they really intend to make up for their mistakes. In my experience those with power don't tend to give it up easily, so they've got a long way to go to prove that. Half measures where they approve who goes outside the fence and when don't count. Neither does retaining the positions they've given themselves in this town. They need to offer their cooperation, not ask for ours.
[
That might sound like it's the end of it — short and sweet. It certainly has a note of finality, and maybe you've even hung up on your own by now. But after another pause, he continues: ]
Some of you may have heard my
conversation with the doc after her last message. I could only confirm one person for myself with the restrictions they gave me, but I can tell you a friend I've been missing is still alive in one of their cryo units. If people you care about have gone missing too, I'm willing to take them at their word that's where they are too.
[
Now he's done. ]
((ooc: The phone lines throughout Wayward Pines are currently very fucky and unreliable due to the damage to the town and also Raven blowing up a house, y'all. So your character will not necessarily have to pick up the phone this time, since not all lines will be ringing. Please feel free to say they don't hear this message right away or at all if that's your druthers!))

( the following message from dr. charlotte rousseau is on the phone network + transcribed via text on the message board. )
Hello again, Wayward Pines. You've had a couple of days now to work through the things we explained to you on Thursday. Now, we're opening the floor to you — for your questions, and hopefully to begin the dialogue that will help all of us figure out how to peacefully coexist.
MOD NOTES
This is the interaction portion of the public address posted last week! While all approaches are welcomed, the post is ICly intended to address questions/concerns and to reach an agreement (or realize that an agreement can't be reached).
This post is currently available both on the audio network & on the message boards, so characters can choose which they'd prefer to respond to.
This is the final piece of our Arc I metaplot. Congrats — we made it!

( shortly after the last of the intruders are finished off, an exhausted-sounding sheriff danny griffith sounds off on the official broadcast channel. )
Well, we did it. Giving the woods one last sweep, but it looks like we wiped them out. Should be safe out, no matter what hour.
Now, we just clean up and rebuild. Get in touch if you can lend us a hand. ( a pause, and then: ) Wish I had more I could tell you.
(and then he hangs up.
it's utterly anti-climactic, possibly even infuriating. people died, and that's all the town gets? you might be about ready to march down to the police station and give him a piece of your mind... )
( ...but five minutes later, a second announcement comes. this one is a less familiar voice to most, though not to all. if she's anything close to as tired as the sheriff, she disguises it expertly. )
Hello, Wayward Pines. My name is Dr. Charlotte Rousseau. Some of you have visited me for counseling, to help you reach a peace of mind about unfortunate ambiguity surrounding the town we live in.
Today, I hope to offer you more than that.
For close to four years now, we've done everything in our power to give this town and its citizens everything they need to live a happy, peaceful life. In order to do so, the decision was reached to keep all but a few of you in the dark. We haven't told you what lies outside the walls. We haven't told you of the dangers that threaten your lives each day.
We did this for your peace of mind, and it was a mistake. One that we want to amend as best we can by offering our utmost honesty and cooperation from this point onward.
(a pause, and then:)
I've composed this next segment to appear on the message boards, to allow you to take in the information at your own pace. I'll read it aloud to you here, but should you prefer, you're welcome to hang up the phone and read it there instead.
(sure enough, a condensed version of the introduction + the following message are now live on the message board. while it's presented here in text, assume that dr. rousseau reads it aloud, word for word, with all of the appropriate inflection and emphasis.)
( essentially an ic faq )
MOD NOTES
This is the public address mentioned in the latter part of the Who's That Pokemon infopost!
On an IC level, both posts are currently available on Channel 0, one after the other, like two parts of a single post. On the message board, you'll find only Dr. Rousseau's post.
You are welcome to use this post to thread amongst yourselves, but Dr. Rousseau will not be responding directly. A follow-up post will go up on the 25th in which Rousseau will address any lingering questions and concerns.
If your character wants to help the police force with their clean-up and rebuild efforts, there will be a top-level below in which to ICly volunteer.

[The phone will ring at 3:57 — and if one's lucky, they may get the heads up before they go outside.
Maybe.
Most of you may be well and truly screwed, but Laura's at least determined to try and not let the people here die.]They are monsters. They're monsters, and they're fast. Close your windows! Don't open the door!
No vayas fuera — ! Don't go
outside; the screams are
monsters.
[There's not a lot of warning. They'll be covering the town and going full-blown attack mode in just a few minutes.
But Laura is at least content to help even one person with those precious minutes.
... She doesn't want to lose anymore people.]

It's your second audio post of the day, Wayward Pines. And Laura's was useful in more ways than one — it will save Steve time here, and he won't have a lot of it to ensure those listening will get through the whole message before it, too, is taken down. He waits with Poe until the evening, when the most people will be home and able to pick up when the phone rings.
He's already cut out his own tracker — has known about it for a long time — but if he's feeling any pain from Natasha stitching him up, it doesn't show in his voice. ]
This is Steve Rogers. There are some things you all need to know and this probably won't stay up for long, so I'll get to it.[
And so he does. ]
The man the police are looking for isn't guilty of any crimes except seeing something he wasn't supposed to. He heard the same screams in the woods we've all heard, and when he went to help he found a body. He was scared, so he buried it. That's why so many people got sick — it got into the river, and it wasn't human. I know this because I saw the body before the Sheriff took it away. All I can say for sure is that maybe it was human once.[
He wishes he could go into more detail here, but again, time isn't on his side. That much will have to suffice. ]
This man is one of us. [
Using Sarah's words, who told him everything the man in question told her, because they're good words. ]
Woke up here the same as everyone else, and I don't mean in a hospital bed. The Sheriff is the exception. No one remembers seeing him in the hospital. He was never confused over missing memories, or memories of a life we're not supposed to talk about.[
Poe leans in, glancing at Steve for the go-ahead before he speaks loud enough to make himself heard through the receiver. ]
That's not all. This place is entirely walled off. All the way around. There are beings patrolling the walls, ones that I can't identify. No species I've ever encountered, and I've encountered a lot. Worse, the sheriff reports to someone invested in keeping us here and keeping us quiet.[
And then Steve picks up where he left off. ]
But that's the only way we'll get answers. We have to talk to each other, even if it's against the law. Especially if it's against the law. There will be consequences, but I'm willing to face them if you are. We don't belong here, but they made us care about each other anyway. Let's make that a problem for 'em.[
Fin. Like Laura's post, this message will also be gone after 3-4 minutes. Not a lot of time, considering how long it takes just to listen to it, but you might be able to get through to Steve or Poe for a while afterward, if you're quick. ]

[
Steve's a city boy, Brooklyn born and bred. It's too quiet here at night, and he already has enough trouble getting to sleep the more he remembers. It's something to keep in mind, at least, if he's ever in doubt as to which set of memories really belongs in his head. Mostly, he knows where he comes down on it, and so he tries not to dwell.
They have snow in New York, though. If it's not welcomed, it's not unfamiliar, either. And if there was one thing being a Depression era kid taught him, it's that neighbors help each other out. ]
Steve Rogers here. I hope everyone's enjoying the snow day and you kids don't miss me too much. [
Oh, Mr. Rogers, you nerd. ] I'd rather not spend the whole day inside myself, so if you have somewhere you need to be let me know and I'll stop by to clear some of it away. Uh, if I'm not here you can try to catch me out and about, or go ahead and leave a message. I'll keep checking back in every once in a while.
[
He misses cell phones. ]

[
so this isn't exactly the way stiles would have preferred to make his debut on the network, but needs must when the devil drives as they say, and the full moon has managed to sneak up on all of them.]
Okay so weird question but does anyone have some chains they're currently not using? Asking for a friend.
