Hello again, Wayward Pines. You've had a couple of days now to work through the things we explained to you on Thursday. Now, we're opening the floor to you — for your questions, and hopefully to begin the dialogue that will help all of us figure out how to peacefully coexist.

This is the interaction portion of the public address posted last week! While all approaches are welcomed, the post is ICly intended to address questions/concerns and to reach an agreement (or realize that an agreement can't be reached).

This is the final piece of our Arc I metaplot. Congrats — we made it!

"Previously irreversible condition"? Not even magic can "cure" death. How do you choose the ones to save?

And what would you have done if this attack never came? Would we ever have gotten answers? Or would you have made us all disappear one right after another?

We don't choose, Mister Ulric. We save those which we have the capacity to save, and we mourn those which we don't. Sometimes, a person who seems at first to fall into the first category proves otherwise once we begin to make the attempt. It isn't a flawless process, but it's state-of-the-art and significantly better than the alternative.

( 'the alternative' being the total inability to even hope to revive an individual beyond brain death. )

If this attack never came? ( another pause, but this one doesn't seem to be muffled. she's genuinely thinking. ) I can honestly say I'm not entirely sure. The aftermath of the attack certainly wasn't the first we've discussed whether or not to explain the truth. The notion has always had advocates, even taking into account the potential consequences. Your Sheriff Griffith was one of the loudest among them.

If I were to wager a bet, I'd suppose that the situation as it was wouldn't have made it through the end of summer, if only because continuing to lie would have turned you against us beyond any hope of reconciliation.

You've already lost some of them. The moment we figured out you were watching us you've lost trust. What did they honestly think would happen? That people wouldn't have questions? That they wouldn't be scared and lost, or angry?

You've been forcing others to lie for you since day one, even after you realized something was wrong with your system. Even after we've asked directly about things we were clearly never supposed to know.

Was Elena Salvatore taken because she became unstable, or because she would no longer conform?

The former. It seemed that her genetic structure was not quite that of your typical human which seems to have disagreed particularly strongly with some part of the process, though I'm not terribly versed on the details.

Before you ask: Yes, this explains the absence of the Salvatore brothers, as well.

[There's confusion (not typically human?) but also relief. They're okay. He assumes that holds true for Katherine as well. Not gone, or hurt, just asleep again until they can be woken up safely. Elena joined her family after all.
